Almost three years after Hurricane Maria, thousands of Puerto Ricans still cannot return home. Recently, Puerto Rico was also hit by two severe earthquakes, and hundreds of aftershocks in the southern part of the Island, which devastated families and damaged thousands of homes, businesses, schools and roads. With your help, RPR Foundation rebuilds damaged houses and allows residents to return home one family at a time.
Our Mission
Our mission is to improve the quality of life of families in Puerto Rico affected by Hurricane Maria and the recent earthquakes. There is an overwhelming need for structural repairs to low-cost housing in rural Puerto Rico. We use donations to make structural repairs necessary to return island residents to their homes. To make these repairs, we use local contractors and displaced workers, and we purchase relevant materials from local businesses. Our efforts shelter families and stimulate the struggling Puerto Rican economy. There are no administrative costs. 100% of donations go to those in need.
“We have an opportunity in the wake of tragedy to rebuild, and rebuild smarter, and rebuild better.”
What We've Achieved
RPR has raised $48,000 through our fundraising event in November 2017 and through personal donations thereafter.
100% of funds have been used to rebuild.
RPR's first project, the Dorado House, was completed on schedule.
The Dorado House was rebuilt with a hurricane-resistant cement roof, that will prevent future damage.
Restoration on the Toa Baja House is underway.
The electrical components of the Toa Baja House has been completely replaced with hurricane-resistant cement.
The damaged electrical components of the Toa Baja were replaced by qualified local contractors.
